YOGA

I have been practicing yoga since I was a teenager, on and off. Initially, I’ll admit, I wasn’t a huge fan. It was a much slower pace compared to the sports I played and I was just not very flexible. Fun Fact: I’m still not.

Over the years, I grew to truly love yoga- with the help and encouragement of some knowledgable and caring instructors. Yoga helped me to manage stress and anxiety and added variety to my workouts. Although, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, it took on a new role for me. A regular yoga practice helped me truly recognize the great mental and physical healing benefits. My practice eased fatigue and stress. It increased my gratitude and joy. And it greatly improved my range of motion after my bilateral mastectomy.

These physical and mental shifts inspired me to obtain my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate in early 2018 at the same studio where many of these healing moments occurred, Yoga Sol in Yorba Linda, CA. I entered the program with a goal to deepen my own personal practice and to be able to share my passion and the joys of yoga with others. I graduated from the teacher training program filled with self love, even more love and gratitude for everyone and everything around me, and ready to help make positive shifts in my community.

My favorite aspect of yoga is its non-competitive nature- which allows us to focus on self-care and self-love, things we often overlook in our busy lives. I may not be the bendiest bitch on the street and that’s ok. I am a work in progress, forever a student, and far from perfection- yet joyful as F***.R
